あ、しょ、所長。
Oh, h-hiya, Chief.

チヒロ/Mia:
ふう。なんとか、間に合ったわね。
Whew, I'm glad I made it on time.

ち:どうかしら？　初めての法廷は。
な:こ、こんなにドキドキするの、小学校の学級裁判のとき以来です。
ち:‥‥それはそれは。ずいぶん、ごぶさたしてるのね。
な:え、ええ、まあ。
な:あの‥‥所長。
な:今日は、すみません。いそがしいのに‥‥。
ち:ううん、かまわないわ。カワイイ部下の初舞台だもの。

チヒロ/Mia:
‥‥それにしても。初めての法廷で殺人事件をあつかうなんて、すごい度胸ね。感心するわ。あなたにも、あなたの依頼人にも。
Well, I have to say Phoenix, I'm impressed! Not everyone takes on a murder trial right off the bat like this. It says alot about you... and your client as well.

ナルホド/Phoenix:
は、はい‥‥。‥‥借りがあるんですよ。ヤツには。
Um... thanks. Actually, it's because I owe him a favor.

チヒロ/Mia:
え‥‥。あの、依頼人の方に？
A favor? You mean, you knew the defendant before this case?

ナルホド/Phoenix:
ええ。‥‥実は、ぼくがこうして弁護士になったのも、ある意味、ヤツのおかげ、みたいなところがあるんです。
Yes. Actually, I kind of owe my current job to him. He's one of the reasons I became an attorney.

チヒロ/Mia:
‥‥それ、初耳ね。
Well, that's news to me!

ナルホド/Phoenix:
‥‥ぼく、あいつのチカラになってやりたいんです！　助けてやりたい‥‥
I want to help him out any way I can! I just... really want to help him. I owe him that much.

???:
（オシマイだぁ！　もう、何もかもオシマイなんだぁ！）
(It's over! My life, everything, it's all over!)

チヒロ/Mia:
‥‥‥‥　あそこで叫んでるの、あなたの依頼人じゃない‥‥？
... Isn't that your client screaming over there?

ナルホド/Phoenix:
そ、そうですね。
Yeah... that's him.

???:
（‥‥死ぬ！　死ぬぞぉ！　オレはもう、死んでやるんだぁぁ！）
(Death! Despair! Ohhhh! I'm gonna do it, I'm gonna die!!!)

チヒロ/Mia:
‥‥死にたがってるわよ。
It sounds like he wants to die...

ナルホド/Phoenix:
はあ。
Um, yeah. *sigh*

ヤハリ/Butz:
成歩堂ぉ！
Nick!!!

ナルホド/Phoenix:
よ、よう、矢張。
Hey. Hey there, Larry.

ヤハリ/Larry:
有罪だぁ！　オレを有罪にしてくれよぉ！　死刑でもなんでもカッくらって、サッパリ死なせてくれぇ！
Dude, I'm so guilty! Tell them I'm guilty!!! Gimme the death sentence! I ain't afraid to die!

ナルホド/Phoenix:
ど、どうしたんだよ、矢張！
What!? What's wrong, Larry?

ヤハリ/Larry:
ダメだよ！　やっぱりオレ、ダメなんだ！　あの女がいない人生なんて‥‥死んだ方がマシだぁ！
Oh, it's all over... I... I'm finished. Finished! I can't live in a world without her!
誰が‥‥いったい誰が、カノジョを‥‥！　教えてくれよぉぉぉ！　成歩堂ぉぉぉ‥‥！
I can't! Who... who took her away from me, Nick? Who did this!? Aww, Nick, ya gotta tell me! Who took my baby away!?

ナルホド/Phoenix:
（“カノジョ”を殺害した犯人、か‥‥　新聞に書いてあるのは、お前の名前なんだよな‥‥）
(Hmm... The person responsible for your girlfriend's death? The newspapers say it was you...)

ナルホド/Phoenix:
ぼくの名前は成歩堂　龍一（なるほどうりゅういち）。
My name is Phoenix Wright.

な:３ヶ月前に弁護士になったばかり。今日は初めての法廷だ。

さて。今回の事件は、いたってシンプル。マンションの一室で、若い女性が殺害された。逮捕されたのは、不運にも彼女と付き合っていた男。
Here's story: My first case is a fairly simple one. A young woman was killed in her apartment. The guy they arrested was the unlucky sap dating her:
矢張　政志（やはりまさし）。‥‥小学校からの大親友だ。“事件のカゲに、ヤッパリ矢張”と言われつづけて23年。なぜか、いつでもキツいトラブルに巻き込まれている。
Larry Butz... my best friend since grade school. Our school had a saying: "When something smells, it's usually the Butz." In the 23 years I've known him, it's usually been true. He has knack for getting himself in trouble.
‥‥ただ１つ言えることは、悪いのは、こいつじゃない。‥‥ただひたすら、運が悪いだけ。‥‥イイヤツだってことは、誰よりも、このぼくが知っている。そして何より、ぼくはこいつに大きな借りがある。助けてやるんだ‥‥ゼッタイに！
One thing I can say though: it's usually not his fault. He just has terrible luck. But I know better than anyone, that he's a good guy at heart. That and I owe him one. Which is why I took the case... to clear his name. And that's just what I'm going to do!

８月３日　午前１０時　地方裁判所　第２法廷
Augusut 3, 10:00 AM District Court Courtroom No.2

サイバンカン/Judge:
これより、矢張　政志の法廷を開始します。
The court is now in session for the trial of Mr. Larry Butz.

アウチ/Payne:
検察側、準備完了しております。
The prosecution is ready, Your Honor.

ナルホド/Phoenix:
べ、弁護側も準備完了しています。
The, um, defense is ready, Your Honor.

サイバンカン/Judge:
‥‥‥‥。成歩堂くん。きみはたしか、今日が初めての法廷だったかな？
Ahem. Mr. Wright? This is your first trial, is not it?

ナルホド/Phoenix:
は、はい‥‥。‥‥キンチョーしてます‥‥。
Y-Yes, Your Honor. I'm, um, a little nervous.

サイバンカン/Judge:
依頼人が有罪になるか、無罪になるかは、弁護士にかかっています。弁護士であるきみが、そんなにキンチョーしていては困りますね。
Your conduct during this trial will decide the fate of your client. Murder is a serious charge. For your client's sake, I hope you can control your nerves.

ナルホド/Phoenix:
‥‥すみません。
Thank... thank you, Your Honor.

サイバンカン/Judge:
‥‥‥‥。‥‥そうですね、裁判を進める前に、本当に“準備完了”しているか、確かめさせてもらいましょうか。
... Mr. Wright, given the circumstances... I think we should have a test to ascertain your readiness.

ナルホド/Phoenix:
え、ええ‥‥。（うわあ、アタマの中がマッシロになってきたぞ‥‥）
Yes, Your Honor. (Gulp... Hands shaking... Eyesight... fading...)

サイバンカン/Judge:
カンタンな質問をするから、答えてください。まず、この事件の被告人の名前を。‥‥言ってみなさい。
the test will consist of a few simple questions. Answer them clearly and concisely. Please state the name of the defendant in this case.

ナルホド/Phoenix:
えーと、被告人といえば、ぼくのこと、ですよね？
Um... the defendant... is me, right?

チヒロ/Mia:
ちょ、ちょ、ちょっと！　何を言ってるの、なるほどくん！　ヒコクニンっていうのは、裁判にかけられている人のことよ！　あなたは、弁護人！
Wright! Have you completely lost your mind? Focus! The defendant is the person on trial! You're his lawyer!

ナルホド/Phoenix:
え、あ、あれ？　そうでしたよね。ははは‥‥。
Um, er, eh? Oh yeah, right! Eh heh heh.

チヒロ/Mia:
“ははは”じゃないわよ。なんで弁護士に、こんなコト言わなくちゃならないの‥‥？
This is no laughing matter! You did pass the bar, didn't you?

サイバンカン/Judge:
よく聞こえませんでしたね。もう１回、尋ねましょう。
Sorry, I couldn't hear your answer. I'll ask once more:

ナルホド/Phoenix:
ヒコクニン‥‥ですか。ええと、綾里　千尋さん‥‥。
The，um,defendant? That's... er... Mia Fey?

チヒロ/Mia:
な、なるほどくん。‥‥私、帰ります。そういえば今日、宅急便が届くから‥‥。
Wrong, Wright. Look, I have to leave. I have to go home. I'm... I'm expecting a delivery.

ナルホド/Phoenix:
ま‥‥まあまあ、ゆっくりしていってくださいよ！
Aw, c'mon Chief. There's no need to be going so soon, is there?

チヒロ/Mia:
もうっ！　ヒコクニンっていうのは、裁判にかけられている人のことでしょ！　初歩、っていうより、これはもう、常識のレベルよ‥‥。
Wright! Listen: the defendant is the one on trial--your client! I mean, that's about as basic as you can get!

ナルホド/Phoenix:
（さすがにマズかったな。とにかく、落ち着かないと‥‥）
(I put my foot in it this time! I've got to relax!)

サイバンカン/Judge:
よく聞こえませんでしたね。もう１回、尋ねましょう。
Sorry, I couldn't hear your answer. I'll ask once more:

ナルホド/Phoenix:
ヒコクニン‥‥それは、まあ、矢張くんのことですよね。
The defendant? Well, that's Larry Butz, Your Honor.

サイバンカン/Judge:
そのとおり。そんな感じで、落ち着いて答えればよろしい。じゃあ、次の質問です。今日の裁判は殺人事件ですが、被害者の名前を教えてください。
Correct. Just keep your wits about you and you'll do fine. Next question: This is a murder trial. Tell me, what's the victim's name?

ナルホド/Phoenix:
（‥‥ふう。それならわかるぞ。あれだけ調書を読んだからな。‥‥って、あれ？　ど‥‥ど忘れしちまったぞ！　名前、なんだっけ！）
(Whew, I know this one! Glad I read the case report cover to cover so many times. It's... wait... Uh-oh! No... no way! I forgot! I'm drawing a total blank here!)

チヒロ/Mia:
な、なるほどくん！　あ、あ、あ、あなたって人は‥‥！　被害者の名前も知らないの？
Phoenix! Are you absolutely SURE you're up to this? You don't even know the victim's name!?

ナルホド/Phoenix:
そ、そんなワケ、ないじゃないですか。ちょっと、忘れちゃっただけです。
Oh, the victim! O-Of course I know the victim's name! I, um, just forgot. ... Temporarily.

チヒロ/Mia:
‥‥な、なんか、アタマがいたくなってきたわ‥‥。事件のことは、《法廷記録》を見れば、わかります！　Ｒボタンで、好きなときに見ることができるから、いつもチェックしておいてね。‥‥おねがいだから。

チヒロ/Mia:

す、すみません。とりあえず、思いついた名前をですね‥‥。

チヒロ/Mia:

チヒロ/Mia:

チヒロ/Mia:
それ、独り言よね？

サイバンカン/Judge:
自分の首でも絞めるんですね。‥‥しかたない。もう一度、聞きましょう。
If you wish to hang yourself, Mr. Wright. you're welcome to, but not inside my courtroom. I suppose there's nothing to do but give you another try:

サイバンカン/Judge:

サイバンカン/Judge:
‥‥さて。ちょっといいですか？　亜内検事。
Well then... First, a question for the prosecution. Mr. Payne?

アウチ/Payne:
なんでしょうか、裁判長。
Yes, Your Honor?

サイバンカン/Judge:
今、成歩堂くんが言ったとおり、被害者は鈍器で殴られています。その“鈍器”ですが、具体的には、どういう‥‥？
As Mr. Wright just told us, the victim was struck with a blunt object. Would you explain to the court just what that "object" was?

アウチ/Payne:
凶器は、この《考える人》の置物です。死体のそばに転がっておりました。
The murder weapon was this statue of "The Thinker". It was found lying on the floor, next to the victim.

サイバンカン/Judge:
‥‥ふむう。証拠品として受理しましょう。
I see... the court accepts it into evidence.
